Welcome to Lounge on the Farm 2008

Jonquil released one of the best finds in the album racks of last year for us.  It actually came as a tip off from the nice folks in Rounder in Brighton, and hats off to them, because it opened our eyes to some real quality.

Jonquil are a young Oxford band, mixing in the same circles as those Foals fellas, but treading a very different path.  If Foals were focused on the dancefloor, Jonquil would out the back around the fire, bewitching everyone with their slow-building, intricate and delicate melodies. 

The sound is gentle, yet intuitive guitar, a touch of Americana, and some playful vocals.  There's organs and horns to accompany and it all comes together in this beautiful, cheery wash of contemporary folk...
