Following the success of the open-air Playhouse in The Meadows last Summer this year theatre and performance will be back with a song and a dance up at Merton Farm..

Moving indoors in 2010 - there will be a dedicated tent in The Meadows hosting performance and theatre throughout the day - once again organised by those lovely, colourful cats from The Playhouse..

So whether it's kicking back and enjoying some drama, or getting stuck in to some dance workshops, there's plenty to win your applause over at The Playhouse..

The Meadows field pays homage to an era when festivals were all about community, sharing and cohesion, not about big name headliners, major record labels and heavy sponsorship and The Playhouse fully embraces this.

The distinct visual style and theme for The Playhouse 2010 is Found and Framed with which we have invited a variety of artists, both performance and visual, to explore considering the regeneration of ideas and forms, objects and materials; to re-love, re-work, re-make and re-define; giving them a new voice and encouraging a re-generation of beauty.

The Playhouse celebrates a Make Do & Mend ethos with a cheeky wink to all-things-vintage. We aim to delight you with a range of quirky, innovative and multi-disciplinary treats which borrow from bygone times as well as treating you to a few much-loved classics. Paying homage to music hall, carnival, fairgrounds and with a sprinkling of British holidays by-the-sea and a dash of school fetes we hope you love this new addition to the Festival as much as we do!

Come and indulge in some well-earned downtime in our Playground…
