The Lounge On The Farm's history, like so many romantic tales, begins with a number scribbled on the back of a fag packet. A chance meeting between 'Lounge Original' Sean Porn and the son of a farmer as they watched a band perform aboard a flat bed lorry in the middle of Canterbury in the spring of 2004 is where it all began. Ideas were exchanged. A telephone number was hastily jotted on a pack of Marlboro's. And the rest as they say is history! But we couldn't cop out on a history page that easily. Here's what we've done since that fateful day...
Last year Merton Farm was packed to a capacity 5000 people - rocking out to more entertainment, a brand new non-musical field (The Meadows) and a UK Festival Award winning line-up that included The Horrors, Roots Manuva, Edwyn Collins and much much more..
The 2008 festival saw around 4500 attendees making hay at Merton Farm on 11, 12 & 13 July. Again blessed with some lovely weather (well, for Saturday & Sunday at least!) the Farm rocked to the sounds of The Coral, Mystery Jets, Art Brut, Holy F*ck, Bonobo and of course a very special appearance from The New York Dolls.
Lounge On The Farm 2007 stepped up a gear, as we set out the stall for the future. The Super Furry Animals kicked things off with a bang on Friday night, and we finished with an absolute storm after Alabama 3 across three beautiful days of sunshine and the sounds of now.
In the Summer of 2006, Merton Farm hosted the first ever Lounge On The Farm. Featuring a phenomenal amount of local talent on 4 stages and some cracking headline acts, including The Egg, The View, DJ Andy Smith, Nizlopi and Vincent Vincent & The Villains the blisteringly hot weekend was a lovely introduction to Lounge On The Farm.
